Mahmia Richards is a dedicated professional with a diverse background and a passion for both science and finance. Currently, she holds the position of Senior Auditor in the Federal Audit Practice at Ernst & Young (EY) in Tysons, VA, where she plays a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity and compliance within federal agencies.

Before her transition to the world of auditing, Mahmia spent an impressive 13 years as a Senior Scientist in the Research and Development team at the renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital, Pathology Department. During her tenure, she collaborated extensively with her team on numerous projects, one of the most notable being the groundbreaking 2020 research project entitled the “Validation Study for the Detection of SARS-CoV-2 using the RealStar SARS-CoV-2 RT PCR Kit and RT Polymerase Chain Reaction.” This pioneering research not only contributed to the global understanding of COVID-19 but also earned Mahmia and her team the distinction of publication in a reputable scientific journal.

Mahmia’s education journey reflects her commitment to excellence. She holds an MBA in healthcare management from the University of Baltimore & Towson University, showcasing her dual expertise in healthcare and business, as well as an MS in Accounting/Finance, a testament to her financial acumen. Mahmia earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, where she laid the foundation for her impressive career.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Mahmia is deeply committed to education and community service. In 2019, she joined the Meridian Public Charter School Board, where she serves as Finance Chair and Treasurer. Her unwavering dedication to the Washington, D.C. community is evident through her commitment to Meridian. Her vision is to propel Meridian to the pinnacle of excellence, solidifying its status as a top-tier school in the District.
